Dr. Damian Smith
Orthopaedic Surgeon Canberra
Passionate about helping people achieve life changing results through integrated orthopaedic care, Dr Damian Smith is a highly trained orthopaedic surgeon with expertise in lower limb surgery. He’s also one of Australia’s Orthopaedic surgeons that has embraced advances in robotic surgery and was the first doctor to perform a hip replacement in Canberra using the world-leading Mako robotic-arm surgical support system.
After successfully completing his Orthopaedic training in 2008 at the University of Sydney, he went on to complete post graduate fellowships in orthopaedic surgery. This saw him train overseas in the United Kingdom in internationally recognised fellowships in hip and knee joint replacement surgery, arthroscopic knee surgery and paediatric orthopaedics.
A Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a member of both the Australian Medical Association and the Australian Orthopaedic Association, Dr Smith previously contributed to orthopaedic trauma care at The Canberra Hospital. Dr Smith leads a robotic surgery fellowship, training both colleagues and fellows in the use of Stryker’s Mako robotic-assisted surgical system, reflecting his ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence in orthopaedic care.
Dr. Luke Barr
Orthopaedic Surgeon Canberra
Dr Luke Barr is an Australian‑trained orthopaedic surgeon with special interest in lower limb surgery, sports injury management and orthopaedic trauma. He has joined the team at InMotion Orthopaedics and provides specialist consultations in Woden, Belconnen and Bega – supporting the Bega Valley, Sapphire Coast and surrounds.
Dr Barr’s clinical practice focuses on the management of knee and hip conditions, sports‑related injuries, and selected shoulder and upper limb disorders. His background includes service in the Australian Regular Army, contributing to his strong commitment to precision, teamwork and high‑quality patient care.
Dr Barr has longstanding ties to Canberra, having spent much of his adult life here and completing his formative junior doctor training at The Canberra Hospital. He has undertaken extensive training across both metropolitan and regional centres, including multiple terms in the Bega Valley as an orthopaedic registrar. Dr Barr also provides regular on‑call orthopaedic trauma support to South East Regional Hospital – Bega, strengthening continuity of care for patients across the region.
Dedicated to evidence‑based practice, Dr Barr values close collaboration with referring GPs and allied health professionals to ensure timely, coordinated and effective treatment pathways for all patients.

Boasting an impressive career spanning over two decades in the healthcare industry, Maree brings a wealth of expertise and a deep understanding of the intricacies of the healthcare system.
Maree’s professional journey has been diverse, encompassing roles in GP reception, aged care nursing, and administration management. This diverse background has equipped her with a comprehensive perspective on healthcare, allowing her to navigate its complexities with finesse and insight.
For the past 11 years, Maree has been an integral part of the orthopaedic administration landscape in Canberra, where she has exclusively dedicated her skills to the management of orthopaedic practices. Her prolonged and focused experience in this field positions her as a seasoned professional with an in-depth understanding of the unique challenges and dynamics within orthopaedic administration.
Maree’s qualifications in health, bookkeeping, and management further underscore her commitment to excellence. This educational foundation, combined with her extensive practical experience, empowers Maree to lead the InMotion Orthopaedics team effectively. Her holistic approach ensures that patient care is seamlessly integrated from the administrative to the clinical aspects of the entire healthcare process.
